About Dr. Ashok Rajgopal

Dr. Ashok Rajgopal is the Group Chairman of the Medanta Institute of Musculoskeletal Disorders and Orthopaedics at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, India. He is one of the most recognised orthopaedic surgeons in South Asia, with a national profile built on a long career in joint replacement.

Clinical Focus

His practice is centred on total knee and hip arthroplasty, with a particular reputation for high-volume primary and revision knee replacement. He has worked across arthroscopy, complex joint reconstruction and minimally invasive knee surgery.

Experience

Dr. Rajgopal began independent orthopaedic practice in 1985 and joined Medanta in October 2009, serving as Chairman of the Bone and Joint Institute before being elevated to Group Chairman of the musculoskeletal institute in March 2019. He pioneered bilateral total knee replacement in India in 1987 and introduced minimally invasive knee surgery in the country in 2002.

Patient Trust

International patients choose Dr. Rajgopal for one of the longest and most-cited knee replacement track records in Asia. The combination of national civilian honours, AIIMS and Liverpool training, and Medanta's integrated hospital infrastructure makes him a default choice for complex or revision joint cases in India.
