How to choose a hospital in India

Check the license and accreditation. Ask for the certificates and check them with the body that issued them. JCI status can be looked up in JCI's directory.
Read the reviews yourself. Open the Google and Trustpilot pages linked above and read the recent and the negative reviews, not just the score.
Get the quote in writing. It should say who treats you, what is included, how long you stay and what happens if there is a complication.
Plan follow-up at home. The CDC advises arranging follow-up care in the U.S. and travel insurance that covers medical evacuation before you go.

Checking a clinic in India: Indian hospitals are accredited nationally by NABH, part of the Quality Council of India, which publishes the list of accredited hospitals; hospital laboratories are accredited by NABL. Doctors must be registered with the National Medical Commission or a state medical council.
