How much do dental implants in Turkey cost?

A dental implant is three parts: the implant (a titanium root placed in the jaw), the abutment that connects it to the tooth, and the crown. Advertised “implants from $399” usually mean the root only. Dentakay in Istanbul publishes these prices (U.S. dollars at the European Central Bank rate of 2 October 2026):

TreatmentDentakay, IstanbulU.S. average
Implant (root)€379 – €879 ($425 – $987) by brand$2,143 for a single implant
Abutment and crownfrom €179 ($201); crowns €179 – €319Porcelain crown alone about $1,399
Complete toothfrom €558 (about $626)about $3,542 (implant $2,143 + porcelain crown $1,399), before the abutment
Full arch (All-on-4 / All-on-6), per jaw€3,529 – €8,619 ($3,961 – $9,675)All-on-4 about $15,176

U.S. figures are national averages from the 2024 Synchrony cost study published by CareCredit. Dentakay's quoted packages include the assessment, X-rays and scans, hotel booking, airport and clinic transfers, a coordinator and translation; the clinic notes its prices are approximate until your records are reviewed.

Which implant brand?

Straumann (Swiss) and Nobel Biocare (Swedish-American) are global premium brands with long clinical records and are easy to service in the U.S. Budget brands cost less but may be harder for a U.S. dentist to work on later. Ask for the implant brand, model and lot sticker for your records.

How many trips you need

Traditional implants need two trips: one to place the implants, then three to six months for them to fuse with the bone, then a second trip of several days for the final crowns. Dentakay says a visit takes 2 to 7 days with in-house CAD/CAM crown milling. Some patients qualify for immediate loading, where temporary teeth are fitted the same week; bone grafting can add months. Budget for two round-trip flights.

All-on-4 and full-mouth implants

All-on-4 replaces a full arch of teeth with a fixed bridge on four implants (All-on-6 uses six). It suits patients missing most of their teeth, and the saving compared with the U.S. is the largest of any dental treatment.

How to check a dental clinic in Turkey

  • Ask which dentist will place the implants and whether they are an oral surgeon or periodontist.
  • Ask for a 3D CBCT scan and a written treatment plan with every item priced.
  • Ask about the warranty, and what happens if an implant fails after you are home.
  • Arrange a U.S. dentist for check-ups before you travel.

Insurance and taxes

U.S. dental plans rarely pay for treatment abroad, but dental treatment to replace missing teeth generally counts as a medical expense under IRS Publication 502, so HSA or FSA funds may be usable; check with your plan.

Getting there

U.S. passport holders can visit Turkey without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Istanbul has nonstop flights from many U.S. hubs, about 10 hours from the East Coast. The State Department rates Türkiye Level 2, “Exercise Increased Caution”.

Before you travel: what the CDC recommends

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention publishes guidance for Americans travelling abroad for medical care. These are its recommendations, not ours.

  • Check the qualifications of the clinician who will perform the procedure and the credentials of the facility.
  • Bring copies of your medical records, including lab and other test results related to your condition.
  • Make sure you can get follow-up care in the United States. Care for complications can be expensive and might not be covered by your health insurance.
  • Obtain international travel health insurance that covers medical evacuation back to the United States.
  • See your own healthcare provider 4–6 weeks before the trip to discuss risks specific to your health.

Clinical evidence on dental implants

15 peer-reviewed sources

Dental implants are supported by an extensive evidence base, including long-term cohort studies extending beyond 15 to 20 years, systematic reviews, randomized controlled trials, and international consensus guidelines. Published survival rates are consistently high across single-tooth, partial, and full-arch (such as All-on-4 and All-on-6) restorations, and patient-reported outcomes show meaningful gains in oral health-related quality of life compared with conventional dentures. The most studied biological complication is peri-implantitis, a progressive inflammatory condition affecting surrounding bone whose prevalence and risk factors have been quantified in systematic reviews. Evidence also addresses timing questions such as immediate versus delayed loading and placement. The references below combine long-term survival data, complication and peri-implantitis reviews, loading-protocol trials, and consensus guidance to give a balanced view of expected outcomes and maintenance needs.
